Dr. Jitendra Sigh, Professor and Head, Department  of Fruit Science, took the charge of Director Student’s Welfare, from 28 Dec., 2018, in place of Dr. M. C. Jain. 

Photo of J. SinghDr. Jitendra Singh specializes in horticulture particularly fruit science. He has long association with teaching and is serving the students for the last 24 years as a teacher of various subjects in the field of horticulture. In the continuing service tenure, he has worked on orchard management aspects of horticultural crops. He has a passion for creative writing in the field of horticulture. He has contributed 75 Papers in NAAS rated scientific journals, 08 Books, 16 Book chapters, 1 Compendium, 13 Manuals/ Research/ Extension Bulletin covering various aspects of horticulture. Dr. Singh successfully guided 20 students leading to PG degree in horticulture. He has been involved in organizing 5 Trainings towards dissemination of horticultural technology.  Dr. Singh got opportunity to handle 5 externally funded projects besides have got involved in organization of 2 Seminar/ Symposia. Towards dissemination of technology, Dr. Singh has contributed 95 articles based on various horticultural technologies.

For his notable contributions, Dr. Singh was felicitated by Govt. Secondary School, IGNP Colony, Bikaner on 28.2.07- the science  day, to guide the students in formulating project on water management and also on post harvest management in the field of crop. He received Prithvi Mitra Puraskar by Earth matters Foundation, New Delhi, during 2008; UPKAR  Foundation Award of excellence by Chairman Organizing Committee  for successful organization of the National Seminar as Organizing Secretary on Precision Farming in Horticulture during Dec. 28-29, 2010; got Yogyata Puraskar, and Cerificate of appreciation  on 15th Aug., 2012 by Hon’ble Vice- Chancellor, MPUAT, Udaipur for outstanding contribution in university services. In recognition of his services to the scientific journal, the author was awarded Reviewer Excellence award by Agricultural Research Communication Centre, Karnal on 30th  August.2016.  For his literary contribution in the field of Horticulture and Crop Sciences, Dr. Singh received
Dr. Rajendra Prasad award by ICAR, New Delhi on 16th July, 2017. Towards capacity building of national horticultural fraternity, Dr. Singh successfully organized an ICAR-Winter school on hi-tech interventions in fruit production during 1-21 Nov., 2017. During 2019, he was conferred best teacher award by the Indian Society for Horticulture Research and Development, Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

Being a teacher, he is a man of dedication towards all betterment of student beneficiaries and stands committed for various welfare activities of students may it be in the field of academia or co-curricular activities.
