Activities and Services of Directorate of Extension Education
The mandatory services of the Directorate of Extension Education in the University service area is through various extension hubs located at the University headquarter as well as in six districts of the Southern part of Rajasthan State. Director Extension Education is the chief executive officer, responsible for planning, execution and monitoring of extension activities. The district units- KVKs are headed by the Programme Coordinator who in turn is accompanied by a team of subject matter specialists. The whole network of staff at headquarter as well as at KVK units have multi-disciplinary faculty, technical, ministerial and auxiliary staff actively engaged in extension education activities.
Activities Of DEE in Agriculture University,Kota
- Training programmes for farmers and contact persons of different line departments:
DEE organizes short duration trainings for practicing farmers and farm women on crop production, horticulture, plant protection, animal production, home science and other related disciplines. The trainings are sponsored by line departments of agriculture, horticulture, soil water conservation and NGOs. - Technological Products:
- Seeds of field, vegetable and horticultural crops.
- Nursery plants of vegetable, fruits and ornamental plants.
- Bio-fertilizers.
- IPM- organic and bio-pesticides.
- Small farm implements.
- Processed agro- products and by-products.
- Vermiculture and vermicompost.

- Soil and water testing
- On farm consultancy for farmers
Information:
- Farm literature – leaflets, pamphlets, journals, farm magazine, booklets, etc.
- Audio and video CD’s of crops and other agri enterprises.

Other Activities
The University extension education service maintains live and intimate links with the research departments and the field level functionaries of different state departments, development agencies and farmers on the other. To coordinate this, there is a Extension Advisory Council (EAC) in the University. The council comprises Vice Chancellor as chairman and Director of Extension Education as Member Secretary. The other members includes Agriculture Production Secretary, Govt. of Rajasthan, all Deans, Directors, Zonal Director of Research, Head of Departments, Chief Scientists cum Head of KVKs, two scientists of eminence from outside and three progressive farmers as nominated by the Vice Chancellor. The Extension Advisory Council meets at least once in a year to consider all the proposals, programmes and progress on various aspects to extension activities and offers suggestions for effective functioning of University Extension System.
As per mandate, a Scientific Advisory Committee(SAC) is constituted at each KVK for assessing, reviewing and guiding their programmes and progress. The members of this committee comprises a cross section of scientific, farming community, representatives of both government and non-government organizations who are directly or indirectly involved in the process of agricultural training, production and development.
Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Agriculture University, Kota
1. Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kota (zone-V)
Senior Scientist and Head : Dr. Mahendra Singh
It is located 5 km away from Kota city on Kota-Baran National highway 76. The KVK, Kota is holding 44.0 ha land, out of which 20.0 ha land is being used for various activities like front line demonstrations, mother orchards, demonstration units, staff quarters, guest house, roads, and other infrastructure. The farm of KVK is being used for production of quality seed of soybean, mustard and wheat as well as quality planting material of papaya, lime, pomegranate, jack fruit, guava, mango, karonda and rose.
2. Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bundi (zone-V)
Senior Scientist and Head : Dr. Harish Verma
The KVK, Bundi is holding 37.57 ha land, out of which 22.0 ha is under cultivation. The average production of last five years (2008-09 to 2012-13) was 481 q soybean, maize, paddy, sesame, chickpea, wheat and coriander. Besides, 14915 plants of papaya, guava, citrus and mango were developed for distribution to the farmers.
3. Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Anta (Baran) (zone-V)

The KVK, Anta is holding 12.0 ha land, out of which 8.0 ha is under cultivation. The average production of last five years (2008-09 to 2012-13) was 296.3 q soybean, mustard, wheat, chickpea and coriander. In addition 11220 plants of guava, papaya, aonla, pomegranate, bael and kagzi lime were also produced.
4. Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jhalawar (zone-V)

The KVK, Jhalawar is having 16.13 ha land, out of which 9.0 ha is under cultivation. The land is used for production of soybean, mungbean, urdbean, maize, wheat, chickpea, fenugreek, coriander and linseed crops. The average seed production of last five years was 123.0 q. In all 11385 plants of papaya, lime, guava and neem were also developed and distributed to the farmers.
5. Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sawai Madhopur (zone-IIIB)
Senior Scientist and Head : Dr. B.L. Dhaka
The KVK, Sawai Madhopur is holding 16.4 ha land, out of which 12.0 ha is under cultivation. The farm land is being used to produce seed of pearlmillet, seasame, sorghum, clusterbean, mustard, wheat, taramira, barley and vegetable pea.
6. Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Karauli (zone-IIIB)
Senior Scientist and Head : Dr. Bacchu Singh
The KVK, Karauli is holding 20.25 ha land, out of which 18.25 ha is under cultivation but area is under contract cultivation. There is no fencing on the farm which creates problems of grazing by the outside cattle etc.
