Dr. Virendra Singh, serving as Controller of Examinations, Agriculture University, Kota since 02.07.2018. Dr. Singh did his B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture from Rajasthan Agriculture University, Bikaner in 2001 and M.Sc. (Ag) Horticulture from College of Agriculture, Indira Gandhi Agriculture Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur in 2003. He did his Ph.D. (Horticulture) from Rajasthan College of Agriculture, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur in 2007.
Dr. Singh started his professional career as Assistant Professor (Horticulture) at Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh (Gujarat) in 2007 and later on joined as Associate Professor (Horticulture) at College of Agriculture, Navsari Agricultural University, Bharuch (Gujarat) in 2012. In the year 2018, he joined as Professor (Horticulture) at College of Horticulture & Forestry, Jhalawar. He has over 17 years of professional experience in teaching, research and extension. His area of specialization includes Fruit Science.
Apart from teaching UG & PG courses, he has guided 11 M.Sc. and 07 Ph.D. students. Further, he is actively engaged in the PG and Ph.D. programme for teaching/guiding to the students. Dr. Singh has to his credit two books, more than 25 research papers, 4 book chapters, 2 manuals, 9 research abstracts, one technical bulletin and 50 popular articles both in English and Hindi. He conducted one ICAR sponsored Winter School as Course Director and various seminars as Organising Secretary.
He has been awarded Rastriya Gaurav Award at New Delhi, Best Nodal Scientist Award in the Krishi Mahotsav (two times 2007 & 2008), best paper presentation award in National Seminar and also received appreciation certificate from District Administration, Jhalawar for outstanding contribution in teaching and research during the Independence Day 2019. He has been appointed as JET Coordinator for conducting state level entrance exam (JET) for all the State Agricultural Universities of Rajasthan for admission to undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degree programme during 2020. For this, he was appreciated by Govt. of Rajasthan for conducting JET successfully in the Pandemic situation of COVID-2019 by felicitating of appreciation certificate. He is actively engaged to conduct all the university examinations as per academic Calander of Raj Bhawan, Jaipur in stipulated time and also declared there results timely. Degrees and Gold Medals were prepared with high security features for all Convocations of the university since 2018 to 2024 and have part to conduct the Convocation successfully.
